Rashid Ansumana

College of Medical Sciences of Njala University

Rashid Ansumana is the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of the College of Medical Sciences of Njala University (formerly School of Community Health Sciences) and an Associate Professor of Tropical Health Sciences. Rashid has a PhD in Tropical Medicine from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Liverpool, UK He is a research scientist with over 95 scientific publications. He leads the West African One Health Consortium, an initiative that fosters collaboration across disciplines for understanding, preventing and mitigating infectious disease outbreaks in the region. Dr. Ansumana’s work has been instrumental in advancing the One Health approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health to develop comprehensive solutions. His leadership has been particularly impactful in the fight against infectious diseases, including his critical role during the Ebola outbreak. Dr. Ansumana’s research and advocacy continue to drive progress in strengthening health systems and understanding disease dynamics in West Africa.
