H.E. Prof. Khalid Ait Taleb is a Moroccan physician and politician. Professor Khalid Ait Taleb was appointed as Minister of Health and Social Protection on October 14, 2021, by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He earned his doctorate in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat and he has held several significant roles in his medical career, including Professor of Higher Education at the Faculty of Medicine in Fès and Head of the Department of Visceral Surgery at Hassan II University Hospital Center of Fès. Since September 13, 2004, he has served as the Director of the Hassan II University Hospital Center of Fès and was elected President of the Alliance of University Hospital Centers of Morocco in 2016.
H.E. Prof. Ait Taleb is recognized as a pioneer in the Moroccan healthcare system, being the first to implement computerized systems in hospitals, introduce automatic medication distribution systems, and acquire a surgical robot for the University Hospital Center of Fès. He also serves as the President of the Board of Directors of the Cancer Research Institute (IRC) and actively participates in national and international medical conferences, demonstrating his commitment to advancing medical knowledge and practices.
In addition to his medical career, H.E. Prof. Ait Taleb has played a significant role in Morocco’s health sector as a politician. Before his appointment as Minister of Health, he served as interim Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health. On October 14, 2021, he was appointed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, as Minister of Health and Social Protection. As Minister, he managed the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including overseeing the vaccination campaign and ensuring the delivery of vaccines.
