Jaouad HAMMOU

Holder of a State Doctorate in Life and Health Sciences (CEDOC-SVS) from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat, Dr. Hammou is Head of the Division of Communicable Diseases at the Directorate of Epidemiology and Disease Control.

During his professional career, he has participated in several international works, notably within the World Health Organization (WHO). He contributed to informal consultations for drafting WHO action plans for the prevention of avoidable blindness and visual impairment for the periods 2009-2013 and 2014-2019. He has also been a Technical Expert in visual rehabilitation for the EMRO-WHO region, a member of the WHO Global Alliance for the Elimination of Blinding Trachoma since 2006, and a member of the World Herring Forum for the period 2022-2024.

His contributions in the field of eye health and the fight against blindness at national and international levels have earned him several distinctions, including the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) award in 2012 in Hyderabad, India, as well as the Gold Medal for Trachoma in 2017 awarded by the International Organisation Against Trachoma (IOAT).
