Doris is a Senior Programme Officer at the Science for Africa (SFA) Foundation, under the Science Innovation Translation and Entrepreneurship (SITE) programme that seeks to promote Africa-led scientific innovations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) She is an accomplished leader with over 15 years of experience in program management, science research, and innovation across health, agriculture, and climate change sectors. With a deep commitment to addressing global challenges, Doris has excelled in mobilizing resources, driving policy change, and fostering cross-sector collaborations. Her notable achievements include: • Strategic Leadership: Successfully managed grant-funded initiatives, securing over $20 million in funding for groundbreaking research in health genomics and climate change adaptation to agriculture. • Innovation Advocate: Spearheaded projects that leverage innovative technologies to combat food insecurity and climate change, demonstrating a passion for sustainable solutions. • Effective Stakeholder Engagement: Established and maintained strong relationships with governmental stakeholders, private sector partners, and research networks, driving policy development and systemic change. • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Champion: Committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, Doris co-founded the African Women for Biosciences (AWfB) Network, empowering women in science and technology. • Public Speaking & Communication: A skilled communicator, Doris has shared insights and expertise at international conferences, webinars, and media events, contributing to science communication and public awareness. She previously worked at the Program for Biosafety Systems-IFPRI as the Kenya Coordinator, Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) as a Research scientist and National Biosafety Authority (NBA) as a Biosafety officer. She also serves as the secretariat for African Women for Bioscience (AWfB) network. Doris is a leader, innovator, and advocate who uses science and collaboration to drive positive change in Africa.
