Dr Claire MULANGA TSHIDIBI is a Public Health expert and former UNAIDS Country Director, she is an international consultant in public health in underdeveloped countries. Dr MULANGA has a robust knowledge of health systems in sub-Saharan African countries: Successively, Special Advisor on HIV/ AIDS in the workplace at the ILO, in Geneva; Director and Country Representative of UNAIDS in several African countries (Ethiopia, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Cameroon); Member of the Country Coordination Mechanism (CCM) of the Global Fund and Team Leader of the Strategic Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the CCM in these countries; Chair of the Joint UN Team on AIDS, which brings together all the focal points of the UN system Agencies; Vice-President of the Partnership Forum on the fight against HIV/AIDS and Member of the Health Cluster bringing together development partners, the public sector, the private sector and civil society organizations working in the field of health and the fight against HIV/AIDS in these countries. During her professional career, Dr MULANGA conducted operational research (epidemiological studies) and designed projects on HIV/AIDS and STIs in countries with limited resources, she is the author of many publications with the PROJECT/SIDA. Co-Founding Member of SWAA (Society for Women and AIDS in Africa), an NGO established in more than 25 African countries; As the International Coordinator of SWAA for more than five years, Dr. Claire MULANGA has contributed to the integration of the gender dimension into the national HIV/AIDS response and to the capacity building of community structures to address women’s vulnerability to HIV and AIDS in order to minimize their risk of HIV infection and the risk behaviors of their partners and family members. Dr MULANGA is an active member of several international organizations including West and Central African AIDS Research Network, International AIDS Society (IAS) and Society on AIDS in Africa (SAA).
