Public Health Specialist Head of the Division of Non-Communicable Diseases Ministry of Health and Social Protection Kingdom of Morocco

Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat in general medicine in 2002, and holds a master’s degree in public health in 2008 from the National School of Public Health. Dr. Belakhel has held several responsible positions, including the direction of the cancer prevention and control service at the Directorate of Epidemiology and Disease Control from 2008 to 2018, and the direction of the Division of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) from 2018 to the present.

With 22 years of experience in program management at both primary health care and central levels, she is also specialized in evaluations and studies/surveys. Her skills include strategic and operational planning, project management, management of NCDs and their risk factors, including cardiovascular diseases, endocrine and metabolic diseases (adult and child diabetes), mental health and addictive disorders, cancer prevention and control, oral health, occupational health, and rare diseases.

Dr. Belakhel coordinates and leads the national multisectoral strategy for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in Morocco launched in 2019 and represents Morocco on the Governing Council of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) – WHO since 2015. She is married and a mother of two children.
