Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI)

Maria is an experienced public health specialist with demonstrated expertise of working in both Public Sector and Civil Society. She is skilled in health systems strengthening, public health and public policy. She has worked at the Ministry of Health for 9 years where she has been key in establishment of an Emergency Medical Services system in a low resource setting. She has currently transitioned to Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) as the In-Country Coordinator for the Road Safety Program. She is a strong health system strengthening professional with two Master’s degrees in Public Health – Health Promotion and Education and Public Administration and Management. In addition, she possesses a Post Graduate Degree in Human Rights and Gender Equality in Climate and Disaster Displacement and fellowship qualifications in Health Services Management and Disaster Resilience Leadership. She has significantly contributed to policy change and advocacy for Road Safety and Drowning Prevention in Uganda having served as Uganda’s Data Coordinator for both the WHO Global Status Report on Road Safety and the WHO Global Status Report on Drowning Prevention.
